If I wanted to put a small log cabin on my terrace for some extra accommodation (occasional overnight family stays etc would this be allowed without planning as it’s a temporary structure?

It depends on how fussy your town hall is. A friend in Nerja had to get permission to put a small storage cupboard on his terrace. It also depends on the property. If you have a detached house in the Campo, you probably won’t be noticed but if you are on an urbanisation, you run the risk of a neighbour taking exception to it.

If it's going to be temporary, if some functionario comes along, you can always take it down...we asked the Town Hall about a shed - the response was 'you don't have enough land to qualify for a shed, but if you want to build one....' with a shrug of the shoulders . We went ahead & built it - hubby went a bit mad with camouflage (fake grass on the roof, tarpaulin 'curtains' on the sides), and we've never had a problem (in the campo), even tho' the grass & curtains have long gone

You don't say where you are elscouser but in certain parts of Torrox there seems to be a complete amnesty on building anything these days judging by the amount that is going on in this valley! It will differ from area to area and as to whether you are in the campo or not.
