Fire pit permission?

Postby Ricasso » Tue Nov 14, 2017 8:56 am

Hello. I have a 'fire bowl' like the picture attached. I have a large stone terrace. Can anyone tell me if I need permission to use it? I live in the Competa area. many thanks

You should be able to sit on the terrace without permission.
Not sure about the fire bowl.
Sorry . . . . Couldn't resist!

Ricasso - ignore the TdA and CK comments - though I must admit I had to read your post twice to figure it out! You should be OK with your fire bowl - suggest you keep a hose pipe ready just in case, and a lot depends on how close vegetation is - overhanging vines/ trellises, etc ... As we live within 400 meters of a proclaimed forest area and open fires are extremely restricted. As your neighbours for advice ...

Thanks. Sorry, just reading it, it didn't read too well..
It would be perfectly safe. Nothing hanging or any way of catching anything nearby. Just wondered if suddenly a police helicopter might appear with flood lights blazing from behind a mountain...

It's only a portable BBQ on your own premises so no problems. Light it up in the middle of a forest and you would have a problem!

Sensible to ask though.

If you live in the Competa area, particularly on Cruz del Monte or within the park area, there are restrictions on the use of open fires / BBQ's during certain months. I believe they are banned between June 1st and October 31st. It is best to check with the Ayuntamiento, as fines can be as much as 300 K euros !
