Electricity usage mystery

Postby Sofie » Fri Jun 22, 2018 1:42 pm

A true mystery...

For many years I used to live in a house, 3 floors, with 3 persons, in area Viñuela.
Now I live in a small apartment (⅓ of the house), 1 person, in Torre del Mar.

Companies: Endesa in La Vinuela and Gran Energia in Torre.
The funny thing is, even though I moved into a much smaller place, and a 1 person-household, the electricity bill is the same. I wonder why.
The real estate agent explained it is due to higher tax in Torre del Mar and a different company & abono.

If someone can shed some light, please do. Because I just can't figure it out. Thank you!

The tax on electricity is the same wherever you live - most of it is IVA. Unless you are on a free market tariff (which is very unlikely unless you use a huge amount) there is very little difference in prices between the major suppliers.

You need to check your bill and see what tariff and what potencia you are on, however, in a small place with potential will normally be low.

Of course it could be a faulty meter or someone tapping into your supply.

Ho Sofie,

"the electricity bill is the same"...........are you comparing the usage (kWh) or the bottom line ......... :?:

Other items already pointed out...

Potencia

Impuesto eléctrico

Alquiler de equipas

The above add 15.24 € + IVA (21%).......18.44 €......... a month to our Bill..........
All my best learning experiences start with a problem I need to solve.

Yes, check the total kWh used.
Cost per kWh might be different, if you are on a different tariff.
