The overhead signs on the A7 are already warning of a prediction of rain tomorrow.

Malaga weather doesn't do forecasts - they just pass on data and warnings from the Met Office.

The official warning is here http://www.aemet.es/documentos_d/enport ... 3tesp1.pdf

Looking at all the other detailed forecasts, it looks pretty definite that it will rain tomorrow (not terribly heavy) with the possibility of thunderstorms. Sunday could be hit and miss, but no thunderstorms in the forecast. The rain will be far worse as you go east and up the east coast, which is the area that usually gets the Gota Fria every year.

It's a very unstable situation so anything could happen.

There's a lot of rumblings now but the hugest patch of rain according to the radar pics is over Murcia way at the moment.

When we watched the weather prog on Antena the other day it showed rivers of hails running down the street somewhere in Rioja. All summer there have been very bad storms in the north of Spain. It is certainly much cooler here today which is nice!

In La Herradura we had about 5mm this morning before dawn. Just after noon today we had 13mm in less than 30 minutes, some thunder but not a lot.

Just had a good old fashioned downpour and thunder storm .... I can hear the garden gratefully rehydrating! Can't wait to get out and do some gardening now whilst the ground is saturated. We can't do anything much in the summer months other than try to keep things alive with irrigating, but it's never the same as a good soaking of rain.

We used to always get some good rain around Candalaria time, 7 September. I am always grateful for it as once the neighbours set our hillside alight with their fireworks so I can relax now! Last year I'm sure it was late October before we got any decent rain and it was very hot into November.

Is the current situation with very heavy rain over Castellón a true Gota Fria?
AEMet mention two depressions, one from the Atlantic and the other Mediterranean around the Baleares joining up and causing the thunderstorms.
There are Amber warnings for Almería on Saturday 20th.
Although it is an unusual situation, they don't use the term D.A.N.A. in their weather warning.

They did mention it in the original warning. Nothing has changed since then and they are saying it will be the worst for 10 years.

https://elpais.com/elpais/2018/10/19/in ... 08964.html

We get the tail end of it over the weekend, worse in the west of Andalucia. It could exceed 100mm in some areas.

Absolute deluge and hail (8mm+), and fork lightning down to ground, yesterday, middle of the day, Sayalonga-Algarrobo area.
Good bit of recently excavated hillsides along the Carraspite-Lagos road being washed away, with deluges of mud everywhere.
Ford at Lagos not passable, except by Unimog and similar; even big 4x4s were turning back.

There is a very impressive real time forecast on elpais in english website.

It looks as though Marbella to Ronda is getting heavy rain as I type.

We only had 20 litros.

No sign in Benalmadena Costa (2:30am) but it's been necessary to put a bar of gas on for the 1st time. Something's a'changing in the air.

EDIT: that handy El Pais link is showing that the easterly is blowing it out to sea right where I am, then sweeping it back up through Marbella into Sevilla. Fortunate, for now, for me. 2nd edit: the pic is a prediction for 3pm later today. I've dialled it back to 2am and then run it. More of a sign of things (likely) to come.

It's now raining hard with a little thunder around. 10mm so far. I think it will have  moved past us within an hour or so on its way to drown Malaga

The rain arrived, as forecast, over here in Huelva about an hour ago ... heavy to begin with, now a steady persistence. Definitely much needed after a very dry summer! Plants are lapping it up!
