Nasty Biting Beasties

Postby Unicorn » Wed Sep 26, 2018 2:05 pm

Hi

I have been bitten three times by what looks like the same thing.

It is not a mosquito, the bite is bigger, red, itches like hell and the surrounding skin almost looks bruised. Wrist and back of knee. Ouch! Ouch! :wtf: :wtf:

I think I was attacked by something when out with the dog at night!

Any ideas? It has never happened before.

Cheers all :problem: :problem: :problem: :problem: :problem:

Could it be a tiger mosquito. There bite is supposed to be 10 times worse than a normal mossy. I got bit lots this july and august and they are the worst bites I have ever seen. Huge swelling, itchy as hell and took 3 weeks to go.

These tiger mosquito, if it is they, don't even have the decency make a noise.

On the itching, I bought gel called Fenistel and that worked really well.

Horse fly would still be around at dusk and do a nasty bit. Also, could a spider have got caught in your clothing?
Witch hazel get can help with the irritation and itching, or OH finds that after-sun with aloe vera in it helps too!

Been getting away with it for years until this milder summer. Walked around a marsh lake near Narbonne on the way down and they were frenzied. Between Valencia and here I could hear them thudding all over the vehicle and I was emptying the screenwash like billy-o. The roof box was like The Killing Fields. Nasty red swelling that looked like gout a few days later, in irritating areas like ankles, back of knee and inside of elbow. That baby colonia did a reasonable job of soothing and clearing it up for me.
