Go to www.defra.govuk and send them an email asking about your parrots. They were very helpful when I asked about my dog and my husbands bonsai trees.

The people we bought our house from, and who now live across the road, have parrotts which they brought from the UK. They tell me there are no particular restrictions to bringing them here.
They drove them down, so I don't know what restrictions airlines or ferries may have; best contact them direct.

Remember that everything that Fred Astaire did, Ginger Rogers did too; except she did it backwards and wearing high heels!

I am flying my 2 cats over in February. Monach airlines, flying from Gatwick are licenced to carry pets. I phoned the animal cargo chappie at Gatwick and he gave all the information needed.
No. is 01753 686852
I`m sure he will sort the parrots out for you or start playing `speak Spanish in 6 weeks` CD and they should manage to ask directions and get good accomodation, then open cage and wave.

Howard,
We brought 3 Australian parrots over last year. We had to get forms from Defra and then get the birds inspected by a Defra registered vet. There are time limits regarding the number of days prior to transport that they must be seen and then transported. We drove down and needed separate forms for France and Spain. Needless to say, no-one asked us for the forms!!!

Hi Howard
did you fly your parrots over to Spain?
I was told by monarch that they don't take them because flying in a plane can effect there hearing, so it was a case of in the car in the tunnel and that was that, but i did wonder about the ear problem.
I was sad to read about the parrot rescue on here the other day, ex pats leaving their parrots behind, so sad i thought, but i know you do need papers to take them back to the UK.
