Organic Turkey
Anyone know where I can buy an organic, or at least free-range turkey? Preferably fresh but frozen would do.
Thanks

that depends if you are going to be in the cotswolds for christmas or not. you haven´t said what area of spain you are going to be in.
in the cotswolds i would go to your local friendly neibourhood butcher and ask him. that or pop down to the organic farm foods place and get one from there. you could probably pick ur own..."i want that (w)one !! " and watch the farmer run about the feild as it goes "gobble gobble" and u might even get to break its neck urself.
if ur in spain however.. its a different story

hahahaha fair enough, i kinda figured you´d be in spain anyways.. hmm.. marbella. theres plenty of shops about. loads of people on here live in the marbella area.. i would say go into eroski or whatever it is at la canada, maybe ask them, i´d guess the frozen ones might have different stickers on ? if not, try and find out where people buy theirs from, ask your neibours, "donde estas una carniceria, quierre comprar una pavo buena"... dunno, i dont "do" marbella, far too posh for meAshcroft wrote:Sorry Should have mentioned that I'm in Marbella area.
I've got a weak stomach spanish_lad, don't mind eating it... but couldn't kill it or pluck it.

I've ordered my turkey from the new English Butcher in Benavista (behind Banco de Andalucia).
I did order it 3 weeks ago though & I'm collecting it on Fri. After a crazy panic - I did go back & check it would be a straight to oven bird !!! - I haven't a clue on the price, just know it's going to be fresh & dressed ready to cook. I hope you find your free range turkey & you haven't left it too late!

Nothing "book" about it, just happens to be correct. If your butcher understands yours, he's a mind reader, he's in the wrong business! Verb conjugations are all wrong, agreement of adjective is wrong, and nowhere does it indicate that he wanted a fresh turkey. But I know you'll take the corrections well! A propósito, ¡Feliz Navidad!

Well done Spanish lad for trying..any Spaniard would understand "donde estas una carniceria, quierre comprar una pavo buena".even though the

Possibly, I was giving the nearest to what I could decipher of his. It's not the way I would have put it.

Cr-p! Not all Andalucians are uneducated hillbillies. True, a lot of "paletos" speak a very rustic language, but most of the ones I know speak excellent educated Spanish, they understand me perfectly, and vice versa. The ones you are talking about are probably the type that Catalans disdainfully refer to as "charnegos". As I've said before, generally the newsreaders etc speak correct Spanish, and everyone understands them, including the rustic types, but the reverse is not always true. Speaking correct Spanish is not something to be dismissed, just because you live in Andalucia.

Would you say that all English speak "newsreaders" English...the ones I know speak excellent educated Spanish.....
It goes without saying, that the ones you know are well educated
disdainfully refer
to disdainfully refer to anyone or anything, does not come under the ticket of excellent educated Those who do look down on others are snobs, who lack education, even if they talk with a plum in the mouth.

perhaps so..but it would be understood, would it not ?kevin77 wrote:SpanLad...you are at least making some progress with the language, thats obvious that you are probably better than 80% of expats in CDS who have made no effort to progress, some living there for 20 years.
But you must admit there were a couple of mistakes in your original sentence?

If they haven´t already, it´s about time they did! Perhaps I´d understand him better in Spanish, I struggle to follow what he´s saying in English.kevin77 wrote:Oh they've taken you into the residencia de ancianos, have they?I do have a country residence..but I do not live there
