Flip, they've gone up in price, when I checked endish last year they were no more than £7, guess the holiday season places big demand on the suppliers....

Couldn't call you cos you keep changing your sim card. (paying over the odds for them too it appears).

I did look for you on Sabbi Market though but there weren't any used sim card and antique computer stalls.

Much cheaper to buy them in Spain. A Vodafone connection pack costs €30 which includes €24 of call credit. Net cost of the sim card is €6.

Don't know about Amena but we bought a movistar sim for 25 euros of which 19 were call money in the movistar shop at Velez.

I know I am being really dim here but we bought movistar cards from ebay, installed them and thought that we could test them by ringing the phone from a UK land line (not yet in Spain) but get a recorded message which a friend will translate for me at the weekend, are they supposed to work straight away?

They should activate ok when you switch them on in Spain for the first time.

My guess is that they won't work in the UK as they are roaming internationally here. You usually have to arrange this with Movistar by calling their customer services number.
