Cheap Wines in Spain
For once you are quite correct….your French is indeed very poor. However no time to reply....busy here in the financial centre of the world checking my portfolio....you know what we say…when you have it you don’t talk about it!
Funny how eccentric certain well to do people can be....even we find the time to 'chat' on a forum!!!

La Clotte, how wonderful for you, I personally don't have many assets, a house here a house there, blah blah blah, but I'll leave it to you financial go getters to put the rest of us in place, one question for you though, how many hectolitres did you produce last year and is it OAC?
Ah! the full english!!
Yes.....you really do need French lessons! AOC - Appellation d'Origine Controlée - not 0AC and yes all 3 vineyards are AOC. Hectolitres - varies depending on the year/weather conditions/ sanglier - I would have to check the records for even an educated guess - however we would be talking in the region of anywhere between 10000 and 20000 litres.
Good night!

OK
Cava is not Champagne, nor should it ever be confused with.
The two types of wine are tastes apart.
And IMHO, (apart from some very expensive champagnes) Cava wins hands down.
I hate it when in the long past, tour operators would hold a "welcome party", and offer "Spanish Champagne", when what they were offering more often than not was carbonated white wine, in those days probably at less than 150 pesetas a bottle...........
Cava overall is delicious, and not to be confused with champagne, of which there are loads of bad ones and loads of over priced ones.
Ayala is (again in IMHO a great Champagne house); as is Frexeinet and Cordoniou and many other Spanish houses.
But then again, I just like Spanish Wine..................

Seen in Lidl bottles of tinto a 39 cents a bottle would have thought the bottle would cost more than that Maybe its Brussels getting shot of the wine surplus.
Katy....you DO surprise me ....that you even know where the Lidl is...let alone shop there!!!
Or perhaps just a misunderstanding on my part - no doubt your chauffeur just asked, while returning home after your golf game, if he could pop in for a quick shop for his missus?

Camouflage trousers, cauliflowers. I'm just trying to puzzle out what this has to do with cheap wine, anyway very interesting......Some years ago we did have a Military Surplus shop in Spain, and the camo trousers , we sold mainly to hotel waiters,........young girls...for disco wear....... expat dogwalking/big game hunters, who lived out in the wilds......and to illegal immigrants from Manchester, London ,Leeds etc.......
Cauliflowers.....well I've never sold them... but like them with a nice creamy cheese sauce.....
And cheap wines......well..after all the great tips I've picked up from my learned friends on the forum, I will now have to extend my Bodega to accommodate them....Ta Muchly ! !

We\ve driftrd off thread here slightly, however,
I remember going into the Spar supermercado in Tazacorte on the Island of La Palma (famous for it's cigar tobacco) and asking in my best Spainish, "buenos Tardes senora, hay lechuga aqui?"
The fruit ang veg assistant looked at me like I was an alien with three heads and said "lechuga, senor, aqui, nooooooooooo"!'' Apparently if you want lettuce on this particular island you have to grow it yourself or be at the dockside when it comes in from Tenerife!

Don't be silly - katy's chaffeur has someone to do his shopping as one of his terms of employment, and it would be him (the chaffeur) playing golf, katy not being a swinger!laclotte wrote: Katy....no doubt your chauffeur just asked, while returning home after your golf game, if he could pop in for a quick shop for his missus?
