Sangria
Re: Sangria
It really depends on how YOU want it to taste.
Try it and vary the amount of red wine or cava and brandy or whatever spirit and fruit and ice cubes till you find a mix you like.
Could take a long time and many hangovers before you get it right.
Cheers

Re: Sangria
We had sangria with white wine this summer. Really nice, better than red I think
Re: Sangria
Just try red wine and gaseosa, lob in some ice and fruit if you want. This is more tinto verano but arguably better than sangria.
Re: Sangria
I thought I would be inundated with ideas/recipes but it looks like a special sangria is a well kept secret! But thanks to those who have given me suggestions.
Re: Sangria
I dont think it is a secret. Got more to do with what you like. I have tasted a number ogf sangrias, and they are never the same. Except for the bars that serve them from a bottle with some fruit dumped into it.

Re: Sangria
It's all down to the ingredients and your personal taste.
Basically it is red wine, some brandy and something to dilute it such as orange juice or fizzy lemonade/gaseosa etc.
A goodish red wine, preferably not a light one, will taste better and the amount of added sprit is dependant on how long you have got before you fall over. Brandy is the usual option and sweeter liqueurs like Cointeau (Triple Sec is cheaper).
The fruit is up to you but citrus should be apparent and some nice red fruit for colour. Strawberries if available would be good. If you are a Pimms addict then you might like a sprig of mint in it.
Most important is to add the fruit to the wine/spirit mixture and leave it overnight in the fridge to infuse. Then when ready to drink, take it out, add the fizzy stuff and ice and enjoy!

That is the best advice given so far, it's crucial to a goooood sangria.El Cid wrote: Most important is to add the fruit to the wine/spirit mixture and leave it overnight in the fridge to infuse. Then when ready to drink, take it out, add the fizzy stuff and ice and enjoy!

As already said, proportions and types of "add-ins" are to taste. I have a liking for substituting the brandy with Drambuie.
