Strange vegetable

Postby Unicorn » Thu Jan 30, 2014 8:08 pm

I frequently buy the veg stew packs from the supermarkets with carrots etc.
I always reject the white root vegetable in it. It does not look like a turnip, it is fat sausage shaped. Is it a white sweet potato.

Help!

Anyone know what it is?

Itisa sort of turnip or nebo not much taste to it though.
My spelling is Wobbly. It's good spelling but it Wobbles, and the letters get in the wrong places.

I think it is a turnip.

I'm going to try turnip mash as it is really low carb. I'll post if it is any good. Or horrible.

Yes, it is a form of turnip and if you don't fancy it in a stew - I don't  - try cubing it (take off the skin) and cubing carrots, cook together, and mash with a bit of butter ... nice!! :D

I tried mashing it on its own but it was just tasteless. Way better with carrots.

Maybe also I'll try roasting it.
