Soured cream?
Soured cream?
I have a recipe that requires soured cream. Is there a Spanish equivalent? If not what would be a good substitute?

You can find it but not easily.
Creme Fraiche (Nata Fresca) is almost identical.

Re: Soured cream?
Add lemon juice to Nata para cocinar. It will thicken up et Voila, sour cream.

Nata Fresca is fresh cream. You want Nata Agria. Lidl in Velez used to always have it but, unfortunately, not recently.El Cid wrote:You can find it but not easily.

Not according to President who make it.
It says "Creme Fraiche - Nata Fresca" on the label. Mercadona always have it.
It is almost the same as soured cream - the only difference is that soured cream has about half the fat content of creme fraiche.

As you say, it is almost the same. However Nata Agria IS sour cream; it's just harder to source.

Re: Soured cream?
Supersol on the roundabout to the east of Torre del Mar before Caleta has soured cream.
It's imported from Germany, and in their "yoghurt/cream" fridge, about halfway along and about halfway up the shelves.
I can't remember the name of the producer, the label is in German with a stuck on Spanish label. The German wording is something like "saur rahm" and from memory the writing on the white tub is green and purple.
