Wine from Lebanon

Postby katy » Fri Sep 11, 2015 5:26 pm

Had two bottles given me to try. It is quite good. I didn't realise Lebanon were in the export market. Anyone tried it?

I've been drinking Lebanese wine for over 20 years. It's generally very good and usually around 14 to 15% alcohol.

Can you get it in Spain? On a more general note are their specialist wine merchants in say either Granada or Malaga selling stuff like this or even home produced wine? I find that the likes of Mercadona stick to very small lines.

Slightly off topic, apologies....

In many countries there is the ability to buy wines from a merchant and to then store in their own facility. I guess one of the better known in the UK would be Corney & Barrow. Being able to buy and store wine like this gives the option of building a collection over time.

My question; is anyone familiar of a similar service in Spain?

Thanks
David

I know it is possible to buy a barrel in Rioja region. They keep it for you and bottle when required. Our friends bought a barrel when their Son was born with the intention of keeping it for him. A lot of middle class families do it. Sure they must be something similar to UK.

This one Chateau Masur is 14% although many countries appear to have increased the volume now. Most French only used to be around 11%. You have good taste  surprised I have never come across it before.

I stand to be corrected, but I believe Chateau Musar has been available since the late 1970s, when I first came across it in the UK (and loved it! )

I've not seen any in Spain, but our local wine shops (in Ronda) don't seem to be able to see beyond the borders of Spain!

Well, I have lived a sheltered life

It is difficult to find other than Spanish wine in shops in Spain, don't blame them. Alcampo have a limited selection and el Corte Ingles a lot. Unfortunately they mark them up, many are more expensive than the UK :? Used to get some average Australian wine from Lidl Marbella.
