Translation of vegetables

Postby alisonb » Thu Jun 15, 2017 1:03 pm

I bought a sandwich and drink at a motorway service station, and got a free recipe book - cooking with vegetables! There are a few ingredients listed which I can't work out. I've tried googling and translating but don't get anything sensible

The words are

Tirabeques and girgolas

Any ideas anyone?

Tirabeques are a kind of pea -

"El guisante, arveja o chícharo (Pisum sativum) es la pequeña semilla comestible de la planta que se cultiva para su producción y de la cual algunas variedades, como la llamada "tirabeque", se pueden consumir las propias vainas por ser muy tiernas."

Girgola are oyster mushrooms

I've always found that 'googling' (the word) and selecting images usually comes up trumps in this type of scenario.

Re vegetables, when I first saw the heading I thought it was a discussion about the English national football team !!
