Ginger Biscuits in Mercadona

Postby BENIDORM » Mon Jul 31, 2017 4:40 pm

Has anyone tried the Ginger Biscuits now on sale in Mercadona.?
In a round red plastic pot, ''Galletas de Jengibre'', only 1.50 euros for 300 gr..
They are thin heart shaped biscuits with a good ginger flavour, but not good for dunking..
They are made in Sweden and I'm now addicted to them and I wasn't going to mention them in case they 'ran out', but thought that was mean of me.
Caution..Do not sit near the full box, you are likely to eat the lot....

Proper "dunkers" are cheap in Iceland...
In my teens I occasionally was sent to see the print buyer at the Bank of England. One day his tray of tea in bone china teapot, with 2 cups and saucers, silver tea spoon and a plate of ginger biscuits was brought in and I was invited to join him. With a slightly embarrased look he asked "do you dunk" ( this in his very public school accent ) and we both enjoyed dipping and swilling!
I used to cough to disguise a [email protected] I f@rt to disguise a cough.

Peter,
Thank you for that tip.

I'm a private dunker, never in a public place, really because I always seem to make such a mess.

Of course in France and Spain dunking is a common practice.....

Benidorm - yes we discovered the ginger biscuits in the round tub from Mercadona but were a bit disappointed in the flavour as being a bit overpowered by a cinnamon taste with the ginger only just top flavour. Nice though and very nibbleable - but they do not improve on dunking. Now the Mercaonda rectangular cinnamon biscuits with the sinful topping of sugar are also very nice and they do survive a good dunk!

While in London in July. I got down to some serious dunking.
Custard creams, bourbons and my absolute favourites chocolate digestives (rather expensive in Spain).
No ginger biscuits though but just thinking about them is making my mouth water, I'm going to Malaga later in the month so I'll pick some up there.

Country boy,
Welcome to the 'Thin Ginger Biscuit Club', but please don't blame me if you put weight on !

I have also developed a way of dunking them without them dissolving quickly, place a small dab of honey to the centre of the said biscuit then press another on top then proceed to dunk with rapid motions..
It is called the Benidorm biscuit Dunking Method !!

Happy Dunking,
Regards,
Gordon , ( Dunkers Anonymous )
