Postby Flashman » Wed Jan 03, 2018 1:48 pm

anybody know which supermarkets regularly stock these items? OH desperate for her veggie mince and sausages and we never seem to have time on our trips to trail round different supermarkets on the off chance. our nearest is mercadona but not seen them there...

You don't say where you are Flashman. I have only found Quorn in English shops here. I imagine Iceland in Fuengirola stocks it.

I think Mercadona has at least some type of quorn burger in the freezer. I think the soy version is better but I miss a real soy mince.

thanks both, we're in the lecrin valley, so pass most options between there and Malaga airport every couple of months. it's the mince that is most missed as it's so versatile. i'll have a look in Iceland (assuming there's one between Malaga and Motril)

There are only 2 in southern Spain, one in Fuengirola and one in Torrevieja

I've only seen the Quorn sausages and burgers at times in stock in our local English shop. I don't know if Arkwrights in Viñuela stocks it as they have changed hands and we haven't been there for ages now. I can't eat soy and the burger-type veggie options now available in Aldi and Mercadona are soy based unfortunately.

torrox costa might be too much of a detour, but it's good to know they're out there

Russells is my local English shop but they don't always have it in stock, you'd need to phone first if you were making a special journey.

Arkwrights at Puente don Manuel usually have it but it is a bit of a detour for you. I stocked up with sausages, mince and chicken pieces just before Christmas. If you do decide to come this way for Quorn, maybe give them a ring to check they have stock. Here's the address, phone no. etc

Barriada de Salia Baja, 5-A, 29713 Puente Don Manuel, Alcaucin, Málaga

that's very kind of you, thanks for the info
wonder why it's so hard to get veggie mince in mainstream Spanish supermarkets? you'd've thought vegetarianism would be on the rise these days. perhaps I'm limiting my options by just seeking out Quorn products. happy to try other brands!

Mercadona do 2 or 3 different veggie burgers & tofu. The younger generation seem to have a better understanding of vegetarianism as we have noticed when visiting other towns & cities, especially if there is a University, that are vegetarian friendly.
