deep fried stuff

Today, I created a world first, the deep fried Blue cheese and strawberry jam toastie and yes, it works, tastes very good :-)

Sounds great. Could we have a bit more detail in how you do it and hold it all together? Unfortunately the purists will be along soon telling us how bad it is for us!

Pretty simple really, Lightly toast 2 slices of your preferred bread, let it cool then spread 1 slice with jam and the other with grated blue cheese (I used Bergador, medium flavour, not too strong) stick them together and bung them in the fridge for a bit, Mix up a simple batter (google) coat the toasties in a bit of flour (to help the batter adhere, then in the batter, deep fry for 2-3 mins till golden brow and then eat them, mine went well with a glass Ribiero del Duero, cheers !

To be fair, they were minis - and very nice. They only produce mini blood clots.

As a matter of interest the favourite snack of Elvis was, deep fried bacon, peanut butter and banana sandwiches, probably helped to bring about his early demise !
