Drinking
Drinking
I am currently reading a book called "As I walked out one midsummer morning" by Laurie Lee. The following line about Spaniards and alcohol, "Drink, for him, was one of the natural privileges of living, rather than the temporary suicide it is so often is for others." compares well to modern day attitudes. Although this book was first published in 1969, and is an account of the author's travels through Spain in the 1930's, just before the Civil War, it shows that little has changed in the attitude of the British approach to alcohol, as opposed to the Spanish.
