We may be moving for one year for my husband's work from America. Do you have any advice for me?

Yes Julie, welcome to the Forum.
May be good to specify the subjects you wish advice on.
E.g. schooling, where to live, buying houses, cars, restaurants, buses and trains, language learning .... etc etc.

A load of people here can and will offer advice if you ask specific questions. Sevilla is a beautiful city so I hope you will enjoy your time here.

how about living in an apartment for a year versus a house. which makes more sense as the kids will be in school...i'm guessing apartment.

Also what about a recommendation for speaking spanish. One child has had one year of spanish. the other none. Classes before we move? intensive classes when we arrive? Where? hire a tutor? go to a school.

that's a start.

OK, so on housing in Sevilla, usually plenty of apartments to rent in the city, few houses avaiable to rent within the city but plenty to rent outside within 20 km so it depends if you want the convenience of being able to walk around the city from home or whether you prefer the space and quiet outside and are happy to trip in by bus or car. Car parking in Sevilla is a constant nightmare as is simply driving around. For a family apartment in city or a house outside I would start with a budget of 1000 euros a month. You might check out http://www.sevilla5.com/ or http://www.cambalache.es/ for some ideas. As for learning Spanish, i am still trying after 11 years here but I dontg learn langauges easily. There are loads of language schools in Sevilla and quite a few American students on erasmus. You will struggle without some Spanish but if you try it will be very much appreciated.

If you're American, you may find the American Women's Club of interest http://www.awcseville.org/
