Applying for Childs Passport-Help Needed Please

Postby karandjon » Mon Sep 28, 2009 7:16 pm

I am just filling in the forms for a first passport for my baby, from the consulate general in Madrid, as he was born here in Andalucia. It all seems very confusing. I am wondering if someone can confirm some points for me, as i don't want to apply and get the application returned, as we are flying, the first week of November, and they need 4 weeks to process the application.

Do I need to send copies or originals of our birth certificates? If so, do they have to be the long versions as ours don't state fathers name, occupation etc.

If not, do i just need to send our baby's certificado literal de nacimiento (which i will have to get from the Juzgado as they only issue libra de familias here)?

I phoned 3 places today and was pushed from pilar to post. I have another number to call in the morning but wondered if anyone can help in the meantime...

many thanks,

I had to get the long version for mine and they wanted the original. They took longer to get through than the passport did.
