Sanitas Price Hike and looking at Sanisur

Postby Unicorn » Tue Jul 08, 2014 6:32 pm

I am really shocked. I just got my renewal for Sanitas and they have put it up by 30%

Has anyone else experienced this? Any alternatives?

Have you just had a "big birthday" - that can result in an increase.

Haven't had it yet!
But even so, 30% is steep. And I only used a chiropodist once in the whole year.

I phoned them up and they just said it was because they had improved the service.

Anyway I'm going to look around and maybe just cancel now I can get state.

I have seen an advert for a service provided by Clinica Rincon called Health101 where you pay a set fee for a year (101€ for a single person, 175€ for a couple) and get some services free plus a discount on others. Not sure if there are Clinica Rincons in your area but it would be a cheaper option as a back-up as you are also covered by the state health care. I can't seem to find anything on their website about it though.

We have never had insurance here and have been lucky enough not to have to pay out a lot for doctors appointments. I've recently had a huge amount of tests and a MRI scan which I have paid for privately, but even then, it hasn't cost the earth and not a fraction of what we would have paid for insurance over the years. I thought the Clinica Rincon cover looked quite good value can't get any info about the 'small print'.

The Clinica Rincon system is similar to Simplecare http://www.getsimplecare.es/ but more expensive.

I was in there last week and looked at the details. Basically, for an annual payment, you can access their facilities and doctors and specialists at a discounted rate. The only prices they actually quote in their leaflet is €8 for a GP visit and €30 for an ultrasound. All other needs will be quoted on demand.

There will be no pre-existing condition exceptions as it isn't like insurance.

They have clinics in Nerja, Torre del Mar, Rincon del Victoria and Malaga.

Thanks, I called Simple and they just do not cover this area at all. But I appreciate the contact.

I thought I would just update. Having kicked up a fuss with Sanitas, I got one month free for the upcoming year!
