Go to the same place you applied for your health card with usual ID and say you want a TSE, Tarjeta Sanitaria Europa.

Not sure if temp work contract makes a difference as its only valid for 3 months, you can apply on line. .

I Take it that you are talking about the Blue European health card that is issued to a UK resident when traveling to other European Countries?

I did not say it wont make ¨any¨ difference.

When I had a TSE a few years ago it was only valid for three months. I understood at the time that they only issue them for 3 months. Having said that I have had my Spanish Red and White SScard accepted in the UK.

I did not know you could still get a card from the UK, once a resident here.

If a state pensioner living in Spain, you can apply for a EHIC for use in Europe, except Spain.
A few years ago we had to get them from the social security office, but they only lasted a year.

Yeah im covered as a part of the S1 thats now been stopped for non state pension age people. the ones for those who get a uk state pension now last five years which i think is the same as the version given to uk residents for use abroad.

I got my last one in June and it expires in 2 years. I also had to go to a different office from my normal one. It arrived by post the next morning.
They can also be ordered online.

I applied online but i got an email saying due to the info i provided they cant complete the request. im thinking that maybe its because, although i have a work contract my spanish health care is based off my uk S1 for the next 18 months. thats the only thing i can think of. yeah it did say it lasts 2 years
