Tarjeta Sanitaria

Postby buddyboy940 » Sun Jan 15, 2017 8:38 am

My Tarjeta sanitaria has expired, how do I renew it, does it come automatically via the post, or, must I visit an office?

this is a copy of my reply to when you posted the same question yesterday.

Hi David
What makes you think your Andalucia Tarjeta has expired?
Can't see any date on my card.
I do have an expiry date on my sesentaycinco card but they sent me a new one before the previous one expired.
Cheers
Gerry

Hi gerryh, Sorry about repeating the question, but I couldn't, for some reason or other, find my original.
I think that my card has expired because, neither mine or that of my wife, will allow me to book un cita on-line, I went to my local Ambulatario and the lady checked it for me and seemed to indicate expiry.
Thanks for your reply, David.

They don't have an expiry date. More likely your cards have been cancelled for some reason. You will need to go to a social security office to find out why. Are you pensioners? Did you register for healthcare using the S1? Are you employed / self-employed? This happened to us a few years ago, and we had to go through a load of hassle to re-register as "personas sin recursos" or something - not pensioners, but also no longer paying social security (having stopped paying autonomo) but permanent residents with no access to the UK NHS.

As Miro said. They could have been cancelled if you are not pensioners etc.
Your local INSS office should be able to help you.
When my wife needed a replacement, due to her purse with all her cards inside being stolen, she just went to our local health centre and they got a replacement sent.

No need to thank us, but if possible, do let us know the outcome, because this is something that concerns many of us.

Hi Miro. Tarjeta problem solved, you have to be very careful when filling out the on-lina cita request.
When your card details appear, in the space marked Numero do not use the O in front of your number.
eg my card reads OX588xxxxA, just omit the O.

I'm pretty sure that will be your NIE ?

As chrissiehope has said, that is your NIE number but not sure why yours has an extra digit in front of the X.
All the ones I have seen just start with an X.
The Tarjeta Sanitaria number is usually a 12 digit number.

I have noticed that some government departments need to put in the extra 0 for their system to work - something to do with being nearer to the DNI that the spanish have.

Yes, I agree. My NIE is shown on my tarjeta sanitaria (just above my name) and it has no extra digit in front of the X.

The number I use for making online appointments is the one prefixed by AN (just underneath where it says Junta de Andalucia).

Yes, but that 0 is after the X, not before.

Good news...but:

WHY?
If the problem was simply your input "error", why could the receptionist make an appointment for you? Sounds just like my local centro de salud: viewtopic.php?f=22&t=36900

No Miro, they are very nice at our Ambulutario, I would rather think that it was something lost in translation, Any way, all fixed now, all's well that ends well.
