Dentist Help

Postby charltonlass » Sun Aug 19, 2018 12:28 pm

Hi All,
This is my first post  - so I apologise in advance.
I am looking for help finding a dentist for a nervous patient. I have had a home over in Chiclana for 5 years now and love the place to bits and never had any reason for medical/dental up until now. Woke up with toothache in an already filled tooth and after the obligatory pills, teeth clean mouthwash etc. the pain is going nowhere - so I am pre-empting the need for a dental visit but it would also be nice to know for future reference just in case.
I have looked online and am leaning towards a Dental Practice called Brilliant Dental in San Roque. It's about 2 hours drive away but I'd rather travel to somewhere reputable/reliable than pop round the corner. Has anyone had any dealings with them or can recommend somewhere near to Cadiz area.
Thanks in Advance - fingers crossed xxx :D

Edit: English speaking would also be very helpful x

Personally i would just go to the local dentist, if you just ask a neighbor the one to recommend.
I have had two big procedures done, one a crown, the other an implant and found treatment brilliant.
I used two different dentists as the implant was €200 difference in price.
I found out some of the dentists went to Cuba for training which i believe have some of the best health-care systems in the world.
this info may be outdated but it used be this way.

Thank you. I'll have to try and find an English bar somewhere and ask around. x

My advise would be go to local centro salud and ask "yo nessito dentista"
They will know.
If you happen to have at EHIC you can present this, they will likely tell you its not covered but who knows if its an emergency it is.
Either way you likely get good result.
The Spanish people i have come across are very helpful when there is a problem...

Absolutely agree Wollie. I had the dentist from hell in Spain, so bad that he eventually was covered in a Swedish TV programme and he fled the country. I would advise anyone to do an extensive google before trying those that offer grand cosmetic procedures and fancy websites. , which mine did. Go local.

I think the Cuba health care stories turned out to be a myth, a couple of showcase hospitals that's all.

I was actually surprised that Cuba was up-there in health care.
It was the excellent Spanish dentist that said this to me...

The spanish health service's dental care consists of extractions, with no or minimal anaesthetic - just look at the state of any not-well-off spaniard!
Go private and pay! Check out the qualifications of provate ones too - they have just arrested 4 totally untrained "dentists" up here and have a queue of witnesses in pain ready to be witnesses! My (German) dentist has been rushed of his feet sorting out the bodgery.

I thought all dental care was private in Spain

The treatment dealt out in the Benamargosa health centre certainly fell far short of “care”....
