Wanted - Menu del Dia Restaurants Seville to Huelva

Postby karandjon » Thu Dec 20, 2007 9:44 pm

Hi, Does anyone know of any really good restaurants offering Menu del Dia, between West of Seville to Huelva? Ideally around the Hinojos area if possible.
Or even can recommend anywhere that serve really nice meals? We just fancy a change from our usual haunts.

Muchas Gracias

I can pass on one recommendation Karanjon, which was reconfirmed just recently. Casa Emilio right in the narrow part of Umbrete not far from the central fountain and on the road towards the autovia. Argentine beef is their speciality. Have yet to get there myself (ourselves) but is well recommended.

For cheap and cheerful La Choza just on the edge of Bormujos on road to Almonte does good meat on a huge barbeque, the mixed salad is good but they often serve the meat rather rare and by 1030 or 1100 each night the place gets packed out even though it can seat hundreds. I do not recommend the "tinto a la casa" though. It may only be 3 euros a bottle but much better to "upgrade" at least to a crianza or rioja de la casa.

Hers a few some tried, others reccomended and on my list to try.Matalascanas / Casa Matias, Benaczon / Alacena Hinojos Casa Nati, Flor de mi Vina, Isla Mayor El Tejao, Aznalcazar, Cancela Verde, Now ones we have tried on the Road Pilas to Aznalcazar opp garden centre the lower resaurant with celebrations place attached to it we (there are two) freinds went to the top one said it was OK, on the same road take a right at the roundabout to wards golf club take a very long and twisty road through the forest, just before the end of the road (at the roundabout just before Venta cruz - read other post) there is a turning on the left continue up there there is a resaurant right in front of you, pass this (there is a resauant behind this as well which seems ok) bear left and you come to a dead end, and if you look you will see a very old wooden door half open this is a little bar, where they do tapas sometimes? but go through the double doors and there is a very large restaurant, no menu del dia, but quiet reasonable part from the Water 1.80 a bottle!!!Good hunting Any you can reccomend to us?

Another one for your list Karandjon, La Posada just on the Sanlucar side of Espartinas centre. Easily missed on the right hand side if driving from Sanlucar into Espartinas but if coming from Sevilla through Espartinas, a short way after the narrow part it is facing you on the left. A la carte and menu del dia. Food has been good there, inexpensive, just wish they would serve on hot plates.
