Meson Sara - Puente Don Manuel

Postby brenda on Tue Jan 20, 2009 3:02 pm

Regular visitors to the Lake Vinuela area may not be aware that Meson Sara changed hands on 2nd January.

It is now Irish owned with a much smaller menu that has, sadly, lost all its Spanish dishes.

Prices have generally doubled with most main courses around Euro 17.50.

The Tapas bar remains but again prices have increased.

Another nail in the coffin for those of us round here who like Spanish food.

Good news for fams of Meson Sara pre its recent ownership change.

It is strongly reported locally that REPUTEDLY the new Irish owners are leaving in September and Antonio taking over again.

Also Caramels (formerly Chiringuito Antonio) has lost its Brit owners and its original owner Antonio has taken over again. The weekly Farmers Market there has just changed from Mondays to Fridays.

We haven't eaten there yet, but at least the Tapas in the Chiringuito do not look as if they have been in the display for a week, as had happened in the latter days of Caramels, sadly.
The Tuesday bridge club now meets just after 2pm at the Sirocco tented complex across the Chiriguito car park. The Sirocco is run by a charming French couple, and anyone in the area would do well to call in on Spring Saturday (March 21st) when from noon through to the wee small hours of Sunday there will be a barbeque, live bands and entertainment.
The more someone says "You can't say that!" the more important it is that you do say it.

Good news!

After a disastrous 5 minths under Irish management. Meson Sara is re-opening on 18th June with Antonio once more at the helm.

Hopefully, clients will return and prices drop.

Not so good news!

Prices have come down - but sadly so has the quality and presentation compared with how it used to be.

New Chef and food back up to old standard thank goodness, although service a bit haphazard as all the old staff have left.

Now doing their excellent Menu del Dia again at €9 for 3 courses plus large Salad and a drink - at least 8 options per course including an excellent Paella every Friday.

Few clients though as yet. Have booked a table later this month for my 50th and Antonio nearly snatched my hand off when I asked if he could do a table for 14!

Worth giving it a try.

A356 from Torre del Mar.

Just as you see the lake turn right towards Puente Don Manuel - road to Periana, Alhama de Granada and Granada.

Drive along here and pass a Petrol Station on your left then a turning into Puente centre on your right.

Continue to the next turn on the right - to Venta Baja. Butchers on the right hand corner and Meson Sara on the left.
