Novelli's

Postby Paula » Sat Aug 08, 2009 2:47 pm

Went to Jean Christophe Novellis restaurant on Friday at Hotel Locrimar Banus. Food was fab, great service, and really not as expensive as I thought it may be. Worth a visit anyone in the area.

Don't do chips - with mash. Not messy at all - kept it all well contained :)

Our daughters wedding cost less than that per person last month, in Spain, and it was posh!

The organist was brilliant!

Just trying to make the point that €307 i.e. €77 per head is a lot of money for a meal, in my opinion. I honestly don't believe any meal is worth that. But each to their own.

Hi ,
I think you're paying for the name. The guys done well for himself started of in a bakers 8) Can't knock that, I like to see someone doing well.
Guess me and you Steve would be pushing the boat out on 15€ a head, in fact the other month had a real special meal including pre meal drinks and it came to 10€ a head. All with views of the mountains 8)

I didn't say everyone had to go there, nor pay more than they think a meal is worth.
This is the restaurant and bar section of the forum, there may be people in that area who would like to try it out, so just giving my opinion really :) It was packed so obviously there are people that are interested in this type of restaurant.

Hi Paula,
Thanks for posting, at least it saves Campo Steve and myself even looking at the menu.
I've posted my recommended restaurant on this section too . 8)

I'm with Sid at the Taj Mahal (on the Light of India thread) .... 52€ for 4 all-in sounds about as much as I can afford  (We've just had a very nice 3 course lunch for two on the beach with a drink each that came to 17.50€ in total.) There's obviously still a lot of people with a stash of euros to spend if Novellis was packed

Thanks Scot, we will indulge now and again. We don't actually eat out that often compared with some, when we do, we go somewhere that we really want to go, because I hate going to a retsaurant and paying for something that I feel I could have done better at home. Of course Novellis was packed, there are lots of people around willing and able to pay that amount for a meal, try any top restaurant in London, you can't get a table.
If I were to comment on everyone elses recommendations of various menu del dias etc saying "who wants to pay 20 quid for a meal out", I'd be accused of snobbery (quite rightly, as it is a personal choice/enjoyment thing after all) whereas mention an expensive restaurant and it seems inverted snobbery is fine. :?

Ok we have El Chicle in Torrox Costa and a few decent restaurants in Nerja but I want a designer chef too :) Incidentally, we don't eat out at all only stopping for the odd coffee or drink :(

Don't worry about the stick Paula :D .........I got ripped to pieces on another site for letting slip I took OH to Harry Ramsdens for that "special one off occasion" and that it cost the thick end of 35 quid just for the two of us
