Credit crunch prices
Credit crunch prices
Well at least SOME of the bar / restaurants have the right idea. Coffee on the balcon de europa in Nerja is now 95 cents in one of the bars. All meals at least a third off.

Katy , I´ve found a menu del dia you´ll be impressed by..opposite the el fuerte hotel,on the corner above the tunnel, called "capitan"
3 really excellent courses for 9 euros, try it, even you will think it is excellent quality and good value

Walking from Calle Diputacion towards the balcon, Kronox jewellers is on the corner on the left. It's the bar just beyond that. Click the google map link - wait and play.katy wrote:Sounds good Which bars? 2 months ago we paid 2 euro for a cortado in the very same area.

Re: Credit crunch prices
We have been out and about with visitors for the last week and found some unusually good menu del dia options. One in Loja - really good mixed salad to start (served without tuna, on request) or one of the party had a great estofado, calamares and pulpitos with aioli and chips, or huevos y berenjaras for the vegetarian amongst us, homemade chocolate mousse for dessert and drinks (a half bottle of wine, beer or soft drink) included for €8 per person.
Another in Mijas Pueblo on Sunday - avocado with prawns to start, medallions of pork tenderloin in pepper sauce, and we opted for coffee instead of ice cream as it was a bit chilly - €8.50 per person but drinks not included.
That was the only thing I liked about Mijas Pueblo though - I hadn't been there for 25 years and couldn't believe the amount of hassle we got from shopkeepers and restaurant touts, it was more like a Morrocan souk than Spain.

That's only a very small part of the Pueblo. The most of it is still a lovely place to go particularly for an early Sunday morning walk. Nobody about, take a nice hike up to the little Hermita then down for chocolate and churrosFree at Last wrote: That was the only thing I liked about Mijas Pueblo though - I hadn't been there for 25 years and couldn't believe the amount of hassle we got from shopkeepers and restaurant touts, it was more like a Morrocan souk than Spain.

Went there on Saturday, good food but waitresses looked like if you said something bad they'd take you out the back, strap you to a rack and torture you!julian wrote:Katy , I´ve found a menu del dia you´ll be impressed by..opposite the el fuerte hotel,on the corner above the tunnel, called "capitan"

We also tried the new pintxos place that opened last week (next to where Gambrinus used to be, opposite Dali's pasta place on the same road as The Spaniard) yesterday too, absolutely packed - there's no sign of a recession here that's for sure!
