Sunday Lunch Estepona Port

Postby RichardCoeurdeLion » Wed Apr 18, 2012 1:32 pm

I thought me amd Big John could go to the Sunday Market then have a bite in the Port.

Been a while since I've been.

Anyone have a particular fave?

Yup, it's me again!!!

If I were in Estepona I would take a trip towards Casares and the Venta Garcia which is at the end of the road that runs from Estepona industrial estate (where the ITV place is) inland....about a 10 minute drive from the port.

On google maps, the road I think it's on is just a feint line.

I recall at the roundabout just by the top end of the Estepona industrial estate, there is a road signposted to Casares. Is that the one you take?

Managed to look on google street view at that roundabout complex and saw a purple sign to Casares, so I guess that is the road!

Yes At the roundabout (which goes over the motorway) there is a sign for Casares and, I think, a word like "camino" - suggesting it's a country road. The roundabout is very complex (as they often are!!!).
Another way to get there is to carry on along the coast road (not the motorway - the old dual carriageway) until you get to Casares beach and then turn inland at that roundabout, passing the Finca Cortesin golf complex/expensive villas and just follow that road until it meets the one I've mentioned above et voila there's the Venta Garcia

Thanks troop. The roundabout at Casares Beach.... do you mean the one with a folly like a castle/giant chess piece on the RHS as you approach from Estepona.

BTW.......... is Venta Garcia open every day?

Yes. I think there is such a castle....and off to the right, a gas station and, nowadays, umpteen signs for Finca Cortesin Golf.

Venta Garcia does close one day a week - not sure if it's Wednesday or not?

952 89 41 91 is their number - a reservation may be needed on a busy day.

The road from Estepona poligono roundabout on google is labelled "Camino Casares Jubrique)and the road from Casares Beach (Casares Bahia on Google) is labelled MA8300

I found it ok, on my meanderings, and was gutted to see that Madeline Bell sang there on the friday that I arrived. I would have gone up there. To see her in an intimate setting like that would have been fab.
