Was Marsala Palace, now Budha Palace.

Postby gerryh » Wed Jan 27, 2016 5:41 pm

Marsala Palce at Torrox Costa has been taken over by a Nepalese family and renamed Budha Palace.
Went there for lunch today and slightly disappointed to find that they were serving the same menu.
Got talking to the owner, very pleasant person, who said they have only been there for four weeks.
They will be having some Nepalese dishes on the menu but the printer has delivered the menu cards, several times, with errors on them.
They are hoping to get the correct menu cards next week so that they can start serving Nepalese dishes.
Both my wife and I thought the food was tastier there now than when it was the Marsala Palace.
Certainly will go again in February to try the Nepalese dishes.
Cheers
Gerry

Masala House opened in Nerja last week on Burriana Beach.

I assume they took their staff with them.

I am going to try the new Buddah House shortly and will report back.

It is good and with the new menu there is a massive choice. Senior Management had summat from the Himalayas tonight that she had never heard of and it was differently delicious.
Place was full tonight and if that is going to be the norm then more staff will be needed, service was suffering tonight.

Glad to here of good Asian haunts here in Spain

For those west of Gib tried the Jaipur Indian Restaurant in Puerto de Santa Maria (Cadiz) last night. Food and cost excellent. Pops were served with mango and raita as usual but the lime pickle replaced with a fiery sauce. Chicken Jalfrazi and Chicken Tikka Masala authentic and as good as any from the UK.

Sadly no Cobra (as advertised) so having to drink Cruzcampo rather ruined the illusion of being back in blightie. Although when we left it was only 4 C so felt like many a curry night in blightie

Just wondered if the haunts you are discussing here had made (or had had to make) any concessions on ingredients or is everything as you'd find in blightie?

Seems such a shame that in Spain many chinese restaurants serve what I'd call a Chinese / spanish fusion. Apart from an odd one in Madrid I find the chinese here very dissappointing and stick to the home wok

Just got back from the Budha House.
Both of us had Nepalese dishes. Both tasty but not very spicy hot.
Certainly go there again.
Cheers

We went yesterday. We enjoyed the meal, and like others have said, it's a big menu, but no fish at all, which was disappointing. The service was very good. I think overall I prefer the Taste of India in Nerja, near the big car park/feria ground, but last time we looked it only opens in the evening, so we don't go as much as we might, since we tend to go to Nerja during the day. I'm sure we'll be going to the Buddha Palace again though.

I see they've opened an Indian restaurant in the centre of Malaga. It's on one of the alleys which runs left off Larios. It used to be a very expensive fish restaurant. Hope it's still there next time we go.

Don't forget the two excellent Taj Mahal restaurants: Torre Del Mar (Pasaje Timon, opposite what was BP garage) and the other in Venta Baja, Puente Don Manuel. Run repectively by brothers Rashid and Ali Choudhury and their families. Menu is Kashmiri in origin, but honed over the years into something rather special.

Great use of fruit in the dishes: Kashmiri rice is fabulous, as is Peshwari naan with its coconut milk and cherries! Dhansaks and Tandoori Tikka Masala are among favourites. Almost all dishes available as off-bone chicken/tender lamb/prawn/king prawn/vegetable, and mild-med-hot-v.hot as preferred.

We've been eating there for 13 years now...

That's a good idea. It would be good to have a generalised list of recommended Indian restaurants and also one for Chinese/Asian restaurants as well.

They could be a sort of A.com Trip Advisor threads!

Over to you Chris.
