Chrry Stone Fluffing

Postby gretch » Wed Jul 11, 2007 9:24 pm

I didn’t know if to post this in the sports section, but decided it was more cultural.

This time of year when cherries are plentiful and cheap, we frequently get together with friends and neighbours for ‘cherry stone fluffing competitions’.

A bucket is placed on the ground then everyone sits equal(ish) distance from it, armed with a large supply of cherries.
The idea is to eat the cherries, and then try to ‘fluff’ the stones into the bucket; the person that gets most in is the winner.

The rules:-
1) Use a metal bucket; it makes a clang when one goes in.
2) Consume plenty of alcohol prior to the ‘fluff off’.
3) Cheat!
4) Lose count, but claim to be the winner anyway.

If anyone else knows of any equally sophisticated games, I’d love to hear about them.

I imagine the fun is directly related to the quantity of alcohol consumed :?:
It's got to be more fun than football :!:
The past cannot be changed, but the present can be spoilt by worrying about the future

Try putting the cherries in a large glass, covering in cava (or any other drink that takes your fancy) and seeing who can eat the cherries, drink the cava, or both, the quickest :D

The longer you continue this game the more fun/interesting it gets

Try 'Dutch Ovens', also includes 'Fluffing Off', then pushing your partner's head under the duvet.
Cherries not needed. beans improve the ambience.

To add more fun to the cherry stone fluffing.
If possible, pinch all the toilet rolls from your friend’s houses before they go home

And I thought I had a problem!!!!!! Is this some quaint West Country game by some Somerset Cider Apple Growers Coop, or is it just a game to get everyone to put their pips in somthing rather than on your floor???
I must admit I would like to try it with Bacardi/Cola, ice and a slice!!!

Would drinking 5 pints of Guiness and eating a large vindaloo followed by 10 minutes violent exercise be considered cheating ? Not being of a professional standard I am not sure of all the rules.

After reading all of this, I still don't understand what cherry fluffing is. Fluffing means f@rting in my neck of the woods. Surely you don't all eat cherries, wait 24 hours and then f@rt the stones into a bucket for fun  ! Does anyone play a banjo while you do it. Did anyone watch Deliverance on the telly a few nights ago?

I watched it. Very enjoyable. If they did a remake they would make it a lot scarier.

teralin,

You're right ! We did a lot of hiking in and around the Smokies and Blue Ridge Mountain and the OH kept hearing banjos in the background. Lovely country but makes you wonder if there wasn't a lot of inbreeding "in them thar hills"
