Guitar competition in la Herradura

Postby casita-bonita » Sat Nov 14, 2009 5:37 pm

Spotted a few lines in a freebie paper publicising this guitar competition that is running between the 23rd and 28th Nov. I would love to go along and see this but after hours of searching in vain I can find virtually no information regarding performance times. Even tried mailing the Herradura tourist office from a link on the official competition website but that just bounces.

Does anyone has any further information on this, like how to get a ticket, or do you just turn up at the appropriate time and place?
Regards

Bob

Thanks. Already found this website and there is no information regarding performance times, or how to attend that I can find. Most of the Programa drop down menu doesn't seem to work for me giving only a link to the 2008 schedule nor does the "English" button and I've tried 3 different browsers. Guess we could take a flyer that this year will be the same.

The email address given on this site for competitor registration also bounces with nonexistant domain. Must be a typo in the mailto URL.

This link shows 2008.. well it does in my browser.

Program 2009 in their drop down menu shows nothing other than a link to 2008.

Tried the first one, although only earlier today as the mailto link on their website bounced. Haven't tried the second.

Maybe I'll give them a ring and hope that they speak some english as my spanish really isn't upto a telephone conversation. Recently proven when I had to call the granite man regarding a problem with the worktops that he'd fitted to our new kitchen...

Thanks for your help.

Hi casita bonita, I hope you managed to get to the competition. It's a bit late (just got back from Spain) for consolation, but even going to the information office at the civic centre doesn't guarantee 100% reliable info :) The lady in the office 'thought' it started at 7pm and 'thought' the final was on the Saturday, She 'thought' it depended on the amount of finalists. We didn't get any definite info until given a programme on entering.
That said, it is an excellent, worldwide, competion for young classical guitarists. We have been to three of them. It is free entry, you don't need to book and now that it has been moved to Herradura Civic Centre from the local church, the seats are comfortable...........

Even if she knew when it was supposed to start, chances are it wouldn't. I've yet to attend an event in Spain that has actually started on time.
I've got an inferiority complex, but it's not a very good one!

My niece's wedding started on time, but it finished late.
