Competa Feria/fiesta 23/24 January?

Postby alig99 » Fri Jan 22, 2010 8:36 pm

I think I saw a poster about a Feria/Fiesta in Competa this weekend, can anybody tell me anything about it? I wondered about the format, time of start/finish, but any info would be really helpful. We never been to one so would like to go but as we live in a good way out in the campo not sure when would be the best time to arrive? many thanks Ali

Hi alig99, I have been trying to send you the info but for some reason cannot copy/paste it, so, go to google, put in the search box "competa.es" that gets you to the town hall web site and as its google click on translate and you will have the info, its the first lot you come to, sorry for the roundabout way. enjoy it. allgram.

"16:30 .- Cumshots tape and bicycle riding"
You gotta love machine translations! ;-) Don't think that's what they had in mind when they put "corrida". You might be disappointed, it's where they grab bits of material, in this case, on horse or bike.

A little bit of devilment by one of the employees I'd guess  .....there are a few English employed at the townhall believe it or not.

I have always maintained that fiestas should include some different activities.

But it was google, wasn't it? Don't think the Cómpeta lot were involved.

Family site indeed! ;-) It's ironic that totally inoffensive words get blocked, and this stuff gets through. Still, it'll be up for the weekend now, management don't work weekends.

Great to see a few posts here, thought it was dead. However, does anyone hate ferrias? Dirty noisy fairgrounds, iffy food, noisy talentless bands, crowning of the Queen etc.....usually a relative of the mayor! I have been to some totally lacking in ambiente, almost embarrasing to see 2 or 3 couples dancing. Sometimes I lose the will to live after a few.

Anyone seen the shots of the latest "charming" fiesta in jaén. The celebration of throwing a turkey from the church roof. They have some cute traditions don't they :eh:

I don't like Ferias at all, but then I guess I have never "integrated".
It's nothing to do with Spanish Ferias, can think of nothing worse than being stuck in the middle of Nottinghill Carnival either

I dislike them too, the entertainment value is zero in my opinion, the same old thing over and over. I believe some ex-pats pretend to enjoy them just because it gives them a false sense of having integrated.
