Easter

Postby swerve » Fri Apr 11, 2014 10:23 am

Hi we are in Andalusia for the Easter where around velez malaga is the best place to view any of the Easter celebrations. We are in vinuela so We can travel anywhere within reason.

Also will we have to do a big shop as don't know how long the shops will be closed for. Is it from Good Friday till after Easter Monday. Please advise. Thanks

Hi swerve,
I use the Mercadona (there are other super markets)site to get an idea on closures.......

http://www.mercadona.es/corp/ing-html/donde.html

Not like UK ,the Spanish don't do the Monday as a holiday........
All my best learning experiences start with a problem I need to solve.

Malaga has the biggest parades in the area. Never been as I expect it to be very crowded judging by the photographs.
We always go to Nerja to see one of their parades.
A full timetable and routes is on here:- http://www.explorenerja.com/fiestas/easter_in_nerja.htm

mercadona is closed next thursday and friday.
My spelling is Wobbly. It's good spelling but it Wobbles, and the letters get in the wrong places.

Correct, here in Spain Thursday and Friday are holidays, not Friday as Monday as in the UK.

We have never, as yet, failed to park on the area that was going to be used for the new health centre although it is usually fairly full.
Coming from our direction, leave autovia, down to the roundabout with the N340, straight across over the "coble stoned" river bridge, left and roundabout and the parking area is on your rightish.
Cheers

If you turn right at the Hipersol supermarket and take a left at the 2nd Farmacia (Nº 35 Calle Antonio Ferrandis "Chanquete"), there are two free car parks. There is one on each side of the road. The road's called Calle Almirante Carranza.

Do they still exist?
I thought they had been "walled off" ready for building?
I'll have a closer look on Sunday if I get time.
