Albunol - Any views?

Postby AndyM » Mon Aug 06, 2007 3:38 pm

As you know (or might not) I'm looking for a farmhouse type property to renovate (mad I know) and I've been sent some around Albunol.

Looks great in pictures, as they all do, but does anyone have any experience of the town and/or surrounding area?

Cheers

Andy

hi to you. we bought our village house in the beautiful genal valley (genalguacil ) from the following people

La Mohea - check their website, it normally has lots of projects and cortijos for sale plus completed farms etc. they actually run an organic farm themselves, so they could advise you accordingly i'm sure. mention my name if you wish and i am sure you will be ok. good luck in your search. by the way, the genal valley is a fantastic area and only 45 minutes to the coast (estepona)

Maybe I'm missing something here but Genalguacil is 275km from Albunol.

I mentioned this area simply because it appeared that Andy M had been sent literature on another area and I was suggesting an alternative (we are here to help others aren't we ?) Also, they have experience of selling such properties that might appeal to Andy M. No harm in offering a choice I felt, but then again there are always those out there who just make sarcastic comments without coming up with suggestions themselves I suppose.

Albuñol

Albuñol is very near La Rabita which still has charm as a small fishing village. However, the whole area has a lot of plastic agriculture around it so if you purchase a farmhouse there get some fast growing pine trees to obscure the view. The plastic agriculture is unsightly but you are very close to the sea there and it is hard to get everything ticked off your criteria list.

John, its the agriculture under plastic sheeting housing. In parts of especially Almeria, there are miles of plastic houses growing tomatoes etc.

Heres a picture of the area from Google Earth. 90% of the white area is plastic.

Thank you. I am familiar with the method, just wasn't familiar with the term.

When you come over to Almeria on the plane all you see in the white plastic, such a shame, but we all want salad stuff.
