Getting back to the topic (I think!). It is much better to rent first and take your time. Nearly everyone I know moved on within about a year of buying. Inland versus coast depends on the individual, I have done both. There are nice and awful places in both. Inland (some of it!) isn't what it was about 5 years ago, some pueblos have lots of Brits and Brit bars where they all socialise and other tatty Brit shops. Likewise the coast. My favourite areas inland are around Ronda/Cádiz area and jáen but I don't like them enough to live there (just for a few days :) )

Where I live it is an exculsively residential area, mainly spanish but as with any other nationality there are nice and nasty people. I like to be near the sea but couldn't live in an area where there are renters coming and going all the time

Wherever you live, best to sort the work situation first.

Just read your post Peter, I will take your answer as correct. As for the beer, I only drink about 3 glasses a year 8)
