I wonder if anyone can point my friend in the right direction.
She is coming to Spain tomorrow and will need to apply for an NIE. Can anyone tell me,
a) where does she go? (she is staying in Isla Canilla, near Huelva.
b) what will she need to take with her?
c) How much does it cost?
d) How long it takes to get the number i.e instant or in post in 2 weeks for example.
Thank you.

Re: Arriving in Spain tomorrow & need to apply for an NIE nu
All NIE applications must be made in the provincial capital Huelva. Is your friend coming to live here or just as a holiday visitor. If he is to be in Spain for more than 90 days then he will need the certificate of residence which is applied for on form EX18 which comes with the NIE number. Any less time and he can get the NIE number on its own with form EX15. Both forms with instructions are downloadable google them. I think you may be able to use a rep for EX15 however you have to attend in person for EX18. €10.23 is the cost which is paid half way through the process at the bank round the corner from the Extrajanos office. For EX18 you have to make an appointment online it took us 9 months!

if you could point them in the right direction it would be great. do you know how long it should take jut to get a nie?

I applied for an Nie number in Malaga about two weeks ago process is very simply.....
1 you queue for a couple of hours and hand in the form you down loaded and duely completed.
2 when your turn comes they give you a secound form which you must take to the bank and pay Euro16 .
3 The bank gives you back two parts of this form duely stamped (please make sure you complete this before you get to the counter i did not so was initially turned away)
4 Now go and get the initial form, the bank form, and your passport photocopied.
5 Return to the central police station queue for another couple of hours and hand in the forms
6 You will be given a copy of all the forms which anybody may return with in 7 days time to pick up your NIE card and the BEST bit is there was no queue at thsi desk

We will need to do this in a few weeks time in Malaga. Can you tell me where the central police station is located?
Thanks
Pat

If you copy the addresses and put them in google maps
Police station is at
Plaza De Manuel Azaña 3, Málaga, Málaga 29006
Tel +34 952 046 200
Closest bank (5-10minute walk)
Av de José Ortega y Gasset, 43
29006 Malaga, Spain
Tel +34 952 323 359
if you come out this bank and turn left there is a shop about 20 yards away where you can get your photo copies

the nearest bank is actually a Unicaja which is right behind the police station.
- Calle del Corregidor Francisco Molina, Malaga, Spain - on www.maps.google.co.uk put that address in and its just by the roundabout. literally 300m from the doors of the police station.
if you are applying for residencia now, dont forget that you will have to supply them with proof of income, or proof of funds, (and soon or proof of owning a house worth more than 160k €. )
(im sure thats right, but someone will no doubt be along to correct it if its not)

come out of the police station and walk up the path to the main road. turn to the right, and cross on the crossing, then turn to the left and cross the main road. there is a chinese shop, that just does photocopies right on the opposite corner to the police station.

just to help out even more...
this is the over view of the area -
1 - the bank.
2 - the car park
3 - the arrow is at the entrance to the national police station
4 - the photocopy shop
5 - (not on pic) opposite 4, is another photo shop. pic below. inbetween the car park and the bank, on the same side as the car park is another photo shop.
1 - the bank - with the car park opposite.
4 - the photo copy shop
5 - the photoshop.
opposite the bank, before you go back to the car (the parking is only 1€ per day, dont worry about the time) is a nice bar where you can get a coffee and tapas and meet up and chat about how strange the system is in spain
good luck, hope this is helpful.
