Marbella “Achievers” recently welcomed Toastmasters International Clubs from Spain, Portugal and Mallorca to the Annual Iberia Conference and also to compete in the finals of the Humorous Speech and Table Topics contests.
The Conference was a lively event with a captivating keynote speech by Dra Gabriella Kortsch who reviewed the subject of “gut feelings” and explored an interesting theory of humans actually having three brains within one!
Other honoured guests and speakers included Toastmaster’s Divisional Governor, Jim Dodson and IP Div. Gov. ACS/AL, Ralph Arroyo from Madrid, Ltg.Div.Gov DTM, Mike Monroy from Rota and District Governor, Zuzana Grofova who came all the way from The Czech Republic.
The Champions of the public speaking contests were merrily toasted at an evening Gala Dinner Dance that continued into the early hours. Marbella “Achievers” were proud to have hosted such a successful event and overjoyed that one of their members, Phil Robinson (General Manager of Regus), was awarded 2nd prize in the Humorous Speech contest and 1st prize in the Table Topics contest. Phil will now represent Iberia at the European Finals that are to be held in Vienna, Austria.
