M.F. Cornejo: Absence. Presence. Essence

SPANISH artist M.F. Cornejo’s work continues to evolve towards the discovery of new visual languages as he constructs and deconstructs lines and images to reorganise formal compositions.

This pictorial idiom takes the viewer to freer, unrestrained drawings where figures have been influenced by emerging elements from underlying pictures - where the remnants of shapes and forms from previous ‘pictorical battles’ rise renewed to create another image. The artist’s brushstrokes fuse values and hues to create elegant ranges of outstandingly combined colour, while the chromatic blending organises the outlines of the new composition.

The formal interpretation is subject to the symbolic underlying element in the paintings. The theme in this exhibition takes on a special significance as the reflection of a world of absences, of individual solitude or the presence of a multitude of shared solitariness.

M.F. Cornejo’s latest exhibition of large- and small-format acrylic and oil paintings under the title of Absence. Presence. Essence at Espacio Tres art gallery in Calle Alemania 3, Málaga city (next to the CAC Museum) runs from November 24 to December 20. The gallery is open Tuesdays-Fridays 18-21h and Saturdays-Sundays 11-14h.
