Espa Water Pumps

Postby malagaman2005 on Sat Nov 07, 2009 10:03 pm

Does anybody know if any of the big players i.e. Leroy Merlin, Bahaus etc, sell Espa water pumps?
I know I can get one at the local ferreterias but was wondering if I can get it cheaper from a bigger store. The model I need is Prisma 15.

You may get it a little cheaper if you go directly to the Espa distributor on Polígono Santa Barbara in Málaga. I'm not sure if they sell directly to the public.

The saga continues. I tried my neighbours pump and still no joy so I'm assuming it's the top part (which doesn't come with a new pump and is a seperate unit) which houses the pressure guage and reset button. Any ideas how much this is likely to be and has anybody had a similar problem?

I'm not sure what problem you have. Do you mean that the pump will not turn or that it works but doesn't circulate the water. What do you mean by the 'top part'?

I know what you mean by two parts. I installed one recently. The bottom part is the pump and the upper part which has to attach to the bottom part is the control part. It regulates the pressure and recognizes water demand, switching the pump on.

They also have to be connected electrically. Be careful when connecting them. It isn't as straightforward as blue to blue and brown to brown. Do that and you will blow the pump protection circuit board. Check the handbook, or the wiring diagram under the cover where the connections are made.

I bought mine from Proinco in Velez Malaga. I believe their head place is in Malaga. Their various shops can be found at http://www.proinco.es/paginas/pventad.htm

As for prices I paid......

Bomba Prisma 15 €211.59 less discount of 35 % making it €137.53 plus IVA
Valvula Esfera Omega 1/2 01205 (the top bit) €108.03 less 35% making it €70.22 plus IVA.

No idea why the 35% discount was there, but I wasn't going to argue about it.

Basically the pump comprises of two parts, the motor and pump which includes the inlet for the water and the top part which has the pressure valve/guage and the outlet for the water. This part also has the power cable in and another cable out to the motor. When plugged in it just buzzes for a few seconds but the pump doesn't run so I'm guessing there's possibly a solenoid in this part that's not allowing power to the motor. I hope that makes sense !!!

Thanks Steve, saw your post after posting mine. Can't believe the price for the top part, again they've got you over a barrell as you can't run the pump without it but it is only a cheap plastic unit and not many moving parts.

If the pump buzzes but will not start it could be the capacitor. Check this before doing anything else. A replacement will only cost a couple of euros.

Already fitted a new condensor, and the pump I borrowed had a new one so I'm even more convinced that it's something to do with the pressure guage/valve housing . Thanks for your suggestion.

Is your pressure contoller the sort where which you adjusted 2 nuts to set the cut in pressure and cut out pressure?
I could never seem to get mine correct.
I replaced it with an electronic version. No problems with it cut in and out for no apparent reason.
mine is called a Thisa Plus Presscontrol.
Cost about €90 if I remember correctly.
Thisa are on the cost road between Torre del Mar and Rincon de la Victoria. Nearer Rincon than Torre.
Have a look at http://www.thisa.es/delegaciones/listad ... rovincia=6

No the ESPA pumps have a separate controller on top with no adjustments at all.

The only choice is to replace it or fit a separate controller with the adjustments that you describe.

We have had some problems with these ESPA controllers - they seem to have a mind of their own.

Thanks for all your help guys-just to let you know it's now sorted- the pump was kn***ered. What's the chances of my neighbours so-called reconditioned pump being faulty as well !!! 140 euros I didn't want to spend but at least we have water now. Thanks again.
