Plumbing an American fridge

Postby KobolKid » Mon May 14, 2007 11:12 am

Hi,
My Mrs has just bought a big fridge thing that needs plumbing in to make cold water / ice etc. She was told that for the guarantee to be valid it needs to be plumbed in by a "Specialist" who works for the manufacturer, she bought a washing machine and was told the same - is this correct? or can any plumber do this ?

Cheers

Similar to you we purchased a high spec. specialist cooker here in the UK and had to have their guys install it to validate w'tee.
Thing is that it was mentioned to us when we bought it and was built into total price.

I think it's a bit off in your case if you've already bought it and then they tell you this. I'd certainly be having a bit of a word with them to be honest.

I would have thought they are just protecting themselves. Its a simple enough job and if you are a qualified plumber I would have thought that was specialist enough!
I know these fridges have in line filters but are you comfortable with the Spanish water supply?
