Postby laribina » Thu Jul 19, 2007 3:44 pm

Does anyone have a recommendation as to where I can buy a small wood burner ready for the winter? Thanks

It depends where you live. In busier, well populated areas there may be specialist shops, but out in the campo we see them almost solely in ferreterias and, if you fancy a trip to busier parts, in Leroy Merlin DIY sheds. But in both cases you may have to wait until September for a decent selection to be available.

Although your choice may be limited at this time of year, you may also find one on sale in a ferreteria. We got one on sale in August one year as it was 'last year's stock' and it was a good bargain.

This is an A.com hardy perennial. If you use the search facility above and put in wood stoves you will get lots of info on sourcing them.

when you do buy one get a cast iron one around 150 to 200 dearer but a feature to look at in your lounge also keeps the heat more you pay for what you get

Can't agree more, we bought one from Carrefour and after the first winter it ended up in the garage. We had a heavier one put in with electric fans which blew the heat from around the casing into the room. So much more efficent.
