Recommendation for bathroom supply/fit

Postby mullers63 » Sun Jan 22, 2017 11:04 am

Hi (1st post so please be gentle!)

We are currently purchasing a smallish apartment in Frigiliana and looking for recommendations for replacing the current bathroom. This is the most urgent job needed and we will almost certainly be requiring a new kitchen before long (with some minor internal building alterations).

Our Spanish is not great yet so English speaking would be a big help.

Many thanks

Michael & Rosie

Hi, Welcome to the forum. There are plenty of English tradesmen in your area. Also Torrox has lots of English speaking German tradesmen. A word of warning, get more than 1 quote and do not pay a lump up front. It is normally the brits who rip off the brits.

This!

Our own, albeit brief experience so far with painter/decorators, plumbers and electricians has been that the Spanish have been far more professional, usually cheaper and (touch wood) not rip off merchants. Not saying English/German trades are all like that but thus far....

I would add that dealing with Spanish tradesman has also rapidly increased our knowledge of the language. Between our poor Spanish and their poor English we've got some good results and had a lot of fun along the way.

This forum is a great resource too.

We used a great Spanish father and son team for our refurb recently. They did a fantastic job, so much so I missed them when they finished. A great professional job with lots of laughs along the way. The son spoke pretty good English.

Many thanks for the good advice and I appreciate that you might not want to post details openly on the forum. Would it be possible to PM me with contact details?

Thanks
Michael

Not much further forward having removed the square control knob (same as the one below). I can see the control but presume that the chrome backing panel would have to be removed to access it which has been glued to the tiles by the look of it.
