Rustic andalucian kitchen

Postby Paulm67 » Sun Feb 12, 2017 5:37 am

We're buying in Canillas de Albaida and want to create a rustic kitchen in the andalucian style. Has anyone built there won or had one built, if so any clues or contacts would be gratefully received.

Hi Paulm67,
Google "rustic andalucian kitchens" ............pick images

Cave house in Granada is a good example........

Basically it's brick pillars with a stone worktop, we have curtains sprung across the gaps . Then have kitchen implements hanging from hooks on the wall.
All my best learning experiences start with a problem I need to solve.

Personal preferences of course, but there is usually a reason why things change....curtains will not deter invading ants or toddlers, and kitchens used for cooking will inevitably put a deposit of grease and grime on implements hung around....nice shiny wipe-clean doors a la Ikea/Leroy Merlin et al do it for us! We are in the 21st century after all, not the 19th like a lot of Spanish things lol.

You can't beat pan drawers .... so much more accessible than rooting around on your hands and knees to get into the back of a cupboard .... just personal preference of course! It's so dusty here that I like to have as much tucked away in drawers and cupboards as possible. You could try Orange Grove Kitchens in Torrox as I think he does other building work as well, so would be able to construct brick surrounds etc https://www.goaxarquia.com/listings/orange-grove-group/
