Asking for a friend, it would have to be raised on his terrace as room below but does anyone have any experience/idea of cost on how to do this? Obviously I appreciate load may be an issue and strengthening may need to be done ...... thanks in advance for any contributions.
trying to add photo but unsuccessfully!

Basically a small pool on top of a terrace, about a foot and a half deep with seating around sides!

Mind reading head on, are you asking how to plonk a pool on a terrace over an existing room ?
Re: How easy/difficult to do this on terrace....
That's an awful lot of weight - a tonne per m3 of water. Is it an old village house?
Re: How easy/difficult to do this on terrace....
yes old village house.......
Re: How easy/difficult to do this on terrace....
I know it has been done but I'm not sure how the roof has been strengthened enough to support that weight. The very old pueblo houses here seem to be made out of stones like a dry stone wall. I guess you'd need good advice from a builder that has done that type of job before. I don't think I'd like to sleep in the bedroom underneath it
Re: How easy/difficult to do this on terrace....
I am neither a structural engineer nor an architect but I have studied both and I have to say there are soooo many idiotic trends in architecture and design that I feel nausea just looking at those pictures. The architects that design this crap never takes care of the buildings. Just a simple thing as a skylight (a ceiling window) tends to leak water within a couple of years. One of the buildings at the college I went to was already leaking water after 7 years because the walls had a negative incline.
If you want a house to work without problems, don't do this *beep*. Don't even get a flat roof.

I have seen two houses with the pool above a room, one in Frigiliana and one next door to me here, that is over a garage but the principle is the same.
Both have terminal leaks.
