Removing an Almond Tree - Legal?
Removing an Almond Tree - Legal?
We have a lovely mature and quite big almond tree on my land but due to a terrace extension and the fact that it is on the side of the hill I need to remove it - will I have any issues with the council etc if I do this as part of the terrace job (of which ill have full obra mayor permissions) Are almond trees protected? Thanks in advance
Re: Removing an Almond Tree - Legal?
Never heard of them being protected. Holm Oaks are supposed to be.
How about keeping it in small form as a feature? They seem to recover from any amount of pruning. You can also graft on peach and/or nectarines to them. One disadvantage of removing is it is probably helping keep the hill there with its roots.

We built our house on a plot of 100 almond trees. Many had to be removed - no problems with planning permission etc.
