Ring Beam

Postby telboy » Tue Sep 25, 2018 1:16 pm

Having a house reformed consisting of two floors the walls are 50cm thick, I want to keep the ground floor walls at 50cm but remove the top floor and room and have this part totally rebuilt this involves putting in what we call a 'Ring Beam' it totally surrounds the house and is reinforced with metal before new vegas and a concrete floor is laid, this gives the house and existing wall stability before a new walls and ceiling are added.

My question - What do the Spanish builders call a concrete ring beam?

cheers

Possibly because it's made of concrete, it is a beam and it forms a ring around the house?

Hi Terry
Misread your post. I thought you asked Why and not What.
Sorry
Looking at my "Finca, renovating an old farmhouse in Spain" a ring beam is a zuncho.
Cheers
