Quarry Tiles

Postby telboy » Sat Dec 08, 2018 12:01 pm

Just recently had an external walled terrace built with 10cm bricks and finished with mortar render, the wall top have been finished with what we call Quarry Tiles in the UK, they are 14cm x 1cm x 29cm, however these tiles haven't been grouted can anyone recommend a kind of epoxy waterproof tile grout I can use? The gaps between each tile is between 1mm and 3mm.

What is the Spanish name for this type of tile?

cheers terry

Although quite a small gap, fine mortar will do fine. Add some PVA to it to make it less porous.
A quick alternative, if there isn't hundreds of metres of it, is to fill the gaps with either polyurethane adhesive (eg Pattex PU298) or Pattex 101 GP sealant. Both available in standard cartridges, and in several colours. OK for small gaps such as those.

There are only 12m of walls, probably go for the silicone sealant option.

Don't use silicone, it's not really suitable for outdoor use - go for one of those mentioned.
