Installation of a new window opening in external wall

Postby tonyjbaker2308 » Fri Jun 14, 2019 11:57 am

Anyone had a window cut out of an external wall in the Velez Malaga area. I am looking for a builder to create a 2ft x 2ft opening in a stone wall (2ft thick). Recommendations for builders in the area to do the job would be appreciated.

2ft thick? thats going to be made of rocks... once you start hammering.. rocks fall out.

They will probably replace the wall. Its more than likely a much bigger job than you imagine it to be.

Just to follow up SL's post.
Your house wall build seems to mine.
It is constructed of two walls made of random sized rocks.
the cavity is then filled with small stones, earth and anything that happened to be lying around.
When you make a hole in one side of the wall, depending on how well the rocks where "cemented" together the rock above might fall down.
Also the loose stuff between the walls might start pouring out.
So it might be a bigger job than would first appear.
Also, don't forget, you will need permission from Velez Malaga town hall before you start the work.
Cheers
