light fittings

Postby kal111 » Thu Sep 15, 2005 10:49 pm

Can anyone tell me if ceiling light fittings in Spain are bayonet or screw in? Are they the same size as in England and is it possible to get low energy bulbs?
Thanks in advance.

I can't believe that got bleeped. I meant the threaded variety that you twist in.

Hi,
Yes bulbs in Spain are the thread variety, the normal 20, 40, 60 100 watts and are either of a thick or thin ended thread dependent on the fitting.
The low energy, long life bulbs are readily available everywhere, if you plan to use UK bought lights, it's best to bring a supply of bulbs with you.

You can buy threaded/bayonet adaptors in UK if you want to keep your UK lights, but they make the bulb stick out further. It is usually not a difficult job to change the light-bulb socket in a lamp, and the threaded fittings are not expensive here.
